On September the 9th of 2009, Elijah and Joy Moore were staying with close friends, Jamie and Sunny McGann, in Winchester Virginia. That morning Elijah woke up with severe stomach pain. By four A.M they rushed him to the emergency room, at Winchester Medical Center. There they discovered that he had Pancreatitis. The Pancreatitis caused severe infection in his abdomen resulting in Renal Failure. He was rushed to Intensive Care and induced Elijah into a coma. The doctors said that Elijah was not looking good and if he survived he would be in the hospital for at the very least 3 months. Elijah remained in the medically induced coma for almost 2 weeks as doctors worked to stabilize him. When they brought him out of the coma, Elijah shocked all of the medical staff with his strong will and rapid recovery. On September the 22nd Elijah woke up from his coma and started communicating with Joy and his mother. On October the 1st Elijah was released from the hospital, just 3 weeks from when he was rushed to the hospital, shattering the time frame the doctors predicted! Due to the fact Elijah’s kidneys have not started back up again, he has dialysis 3 times a week. The road before Elijah and Joy is a long one, and they are not in the clear yet.
While Elijah was in a coma, Jamie and Sunny, devised a plan to put on a benefit for Elijah and Joy. They invited out the KKSM to do a skateboard demonstration. Elijah has been a part of the KKSM for 8 years and given his life to the ministry. Elijah also is a professional skateboarder and is sponsored by KKSM sister company Reliance Skateboards. The benefit was used to create awareness and funds to support Elijah and joy and also to create this video you are watching now.
During Elijah’s coma another plan for fund raising was conceived. Designers and friends of Elijah devised a plan to create and sell limed edition “Moore Love” tee shirts and sell them to benefit Elijah and Joy.
Eventually the 2 ideas, both the McGanns and Luke’s idea came together to create moore-love.com. This web site is dedicated to support the Moores both financially and spiritually. These funds are not only for medical expenses but for the cost of living due to the fact that Elijah can not work and Joy either. Joy was born and raised in New Zealand and met and fell in love with Elijah while he was on a KKSM tour in the country. Soon after that they got married and moved to the states. Joy is currently trying to get citizenship but bureaucracy and red tape has stifled her attempt.
So in short this is a call to the body of Christ to help some one who has for many years lived with nothing, asked for nothing, and now needs some assistance. Please join us in spiritual and financial support of such worthy servants. God Bless you.
